Dear Parents and Guardians, Hello Summer! Due to today’s heat index, we are implementing precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Indoor Recess and PE Classes Today: Based on current weather data, the heat index for Massapequa is expected to be in the danger zone. As a result, all schools will hold recess and PE classes indoors today. Modified Field Day at Unqua: Please note that Unqua Elementary School will still proceed with a modified field day, based on multiple safety precautions in place to protect students from heat-related risks. At this time, we anticipate that similar indoor recess measures may be needed tomorrow as well. We will continue to monitor the conditions and communicate any changes. Dear MSD Parents/Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding how we communicate with you about unverified student absences. In our ongoing efforts to improve communication and ensure easy access to notifications, we are transitioning from phone message alerts to text messages and emails for unverified absences. What This Means for You: • If your child is marked absent and the absence has not been verified, you will receive a text message and email instead of a phone call. • This new system will allow for quicker, more convenient communication and help ensure that you are promptly informed. As a reminder, all parents are asked to complete the Student Absence Notification Form located on the Parent Portal to inform the school of a verified absence. The Massapequa Board of Education will hold a special public session on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 12 p.m. in the Board of Education Room in order to pass a resolution.

The State Semi-Final Championship will be on Friday, June 13th and the State Final Championships will be on Saturday, June 14th. In addition, Girls Spring Track & Field will be represented at the State Championships in Middletown by Kyra Florio-Marinello in the 2,000 Meter Steeplechase and Riahanna Kuhns in the Shotput. One of the highlights was the 100th anniversary celebration of Fairfield Elementary School — our district’s first modern school. Dear Grade 4 Parents/Guardians, All Grade 4 students will be exchanging their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook in the coming weeks. Please note the following: If applicable, please remove any personal protective cases from the Chromebook. Students need to bring their current fully charged Chromebook and charger to school on the date indicated by their classroom teacher. Students will keep their current Chromebook bag. The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.) The new Chromebooks may have limited/no battery charge. The Board will enter into Executive Session at 7 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel. Immediately following the executive session the Board will return to public session for the purpose of approving an agreement.

If you did not access your Rooms account yet, please follow the steps below. On the Massapequa School District App (Recommended): 1. Open the Massapequa School District app. (If you don’t have the app, visit the Apple or Google Play store and search Massapequa School District. After installing the app, allow notifications and set your preferences.) 2. Click "Classrooms" in the bottom right corner. 3. Enter your cell phone number that we have on file in the school district to receive an authentication code via text. 4. Enter the code in the provided field to access your account. On the Web (Available): 1. Visit www.edurooms.com. 2. Click "Sign In" in the top right corner. 3. Click the “Phone” tab and enter your cell phone number to receive an authentication code via text. 4. Enter the code in the provided field to access your account. Once you access your account, you will be automatically connected with your child(ren)’s teachers. You can navigate between classes, streams, and messages. • Stream: A place where teachers and staff can post announcements and communications. • Messages: A place for direct communication between teachers/staff and parents.
