To Our Massapequa Family:
As we close another incredible school year, I want to thank our entire Massapequa community for everything that made it so special. It was a year filled with learning, growth, unforgettable memories and countless accomplishments.
In June, we celebrated the Massapequa High School Class of 2026 during a memorable graduation ceremony at Hofstra University. This class accomplished so much throughout their 13 years in our schools, and they will leave a lasting legacy. June also featured our fifth-grade moving-up ceremonies, an inspiring Flags for Freedom event at the high school that we hope becomes an annual tradition, Flag Day celebrations, and many other special end-of-year events.
Please enjoy our June recap in the latest editions of the Massapequa Minute and Moment:
Massapequa Minute – June 2026
Massapequa Moment – June 2026
If you haven’t had a chance to view it yet, I invite you to also check out our video highlighting activities and ceremonies related to Massapequa’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
As you know, summer is never a quiet time in Massapequa, as our schools remain full of life with the summer recreation program and teen center, sports skills camps, fine arts programs, robotics camps and Camp Invention. Thousands of children will take part in these wonderful programs.
Wishing you a wonderful, relaxing summer. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our schools.
Sincerely,
William Brennan, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
The health and safety of our campers and staff is our top priority. Camp will remain in session during periods of extreme heat and will not be canceled due to high temperatures. When the real feel temperature reaches 95°F or higher, all campers will participate in indoor activities until conditions improve. Refunds will not be issued for absences related to hot weather or the decision to keep a child at home.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers this summer.
Sincerely,
The Massapequa Recreation Office

To our Massapequa Family,
Just one week ago, I had the privilege of standing before the Massapequa High School Class of 2026 as they crossed the graduation stage. As I shared with our 466 graduates that evening, the true measure of success is not simply what they accomplish, but who they become along the way. We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and all they represent.
It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since we shared our vision of "Creating Leaders One Child at a Time" (https://youtu.be/crnazW8bCBg?si=DZNVbpzIKHRm7Qev) with the Massapequa community. As I reflect on the 2025-26 school year, I can say with complete confidence that our vision is not only alive—it is thriving.
Each year as graduation approaches, I spend time talking with our seniors. This year, I was struck by how unique each student's journey was and the different paths they took to find their place in Massapequa.
Yet despite their different experiences, one common theme emerged. No one talked about a grade, a test score, or a line on a transcript. They talked about people. They spoke about teachers, coaches, mentors, friends, and the experiences that shaped them. They expressed gratitude for the opportunities that allowed them to grow, discover their passions, and find their purpose. Those conversations reminded me that the accolades, achievements, and championships are not the story—they are evidence of the story. People are the story. That has always been the foundation of Massapequa.
This year, our students continued to excel in classrooms, on stages, on athletic fields, and in service to others. More importantly, they demonstrated the character, resilience, creativity, humility, and leadership that define a Massapequa Learner and Leader. Their accomplishments are impressive, but even more inspiring is the growth behind them.
None of this happens by accident. The excellence we see across Massapequa is the result of extraordinary teachers, staff, administrators, Board of Education members, and families united by a shared commitment to our students.
As another remarkable year comes to a close, I invite you to celebrate the moments, memories, and achievements that made this year so special by viewing our annual End-of-Year Video at www.youtube.com/massapequaps.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools and for helping us fulfill our mission of creating leaders, one child at a time. Wishing you and your family a summer filled with joy, rest, and renewal.
Sincerely,
William Brennan, Ed.D.

Message from the Superintendent of Schools:
Dear Massapequa Families,
I am writing to provide an update regarding the June 2026 administration of the NYS Earth and Space Science and Life Science: Biology Regents examinations.
Over the past several days, we have reviewed district performance data, consulted with our science teachers and administrators, and listened carefully to feedback from students and families. Based on this review, we concluded that the new Earth and Space Science and Life Science: Biology Regents examinations did not provide many students with a fair opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum taught throughout the school year.
While we value rigorous assessments and high standards, we believe grades should accurately reflect the learning, growth, and achievement students have demonstrated throughout the year. We are proud of our students for their hard work and resilience and grateful for the dedication of our science teachers as they support students through this transition to the new assessments.
With that in mind, and with the support of the Board of Education, I have updated the district's grading regulation to implement a "No Harm" grading approach for the June 2026 Earth and Space Science and Life Science: Biology Regents examinations. Under this approach, a Regents examination score will only be included in a student's final course average if it improves the student's overall grade. This ensures that students are not academically disadvantaged during the transition to these new assessments.
Please note that, in accordance with NYS regulations, all Regents examination scores will continue to be recorded on student transcripts and used to satisfy applicable graduation requirements. The No Harm policy applies solely to the calculation of local course averages.
I appreciate the continued support of our community and thank our students, teachers, and families for their partnership. We remain proud of our students and deeply grateful for the outstanding work of our teachers, whose commitment to excellence supports student success every day.
Sincerely,
William Brennan, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

We previously shared that Chromebook distribution would be delayed due to device availability. We are pleased to inform you that the Chromebooks have arrived and will be distributed before the end of the school year.
All Grade 4 students will exchange their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook on the date provided by their classroom teacher.
Please note the following:
If applicable, please remove any personal protective cases from the Chromebook.
Students need to bring their current fully charged Chromebook and charger to school on the date indicated by their classroom teacher.
Students will keep their current Chromebook bag.
The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.)
The new Chromebooks may have limited/no battery charge. Teachers have been informed and will plan accordingly.
Thank you,
