Dear Elementary Parents/Guardians,

Elementary report cards will be available on the Parent Portal today 3/20 at 4:00PM. To access your child’s report card:

1. Sign in to the Parent Portal Web - https://msdps.powerschool.com/public (Report Cards not available through the Parent Portal App)

2. Click the Student Reports icon located in the navigation menu.

3. Under Archived Reports, select the report card.

If you need help accessing your Parent Portal account, please use the “Forgot Username or Forgot Password” link. If you continue to experience issues, email our PowerSchool support team at powerschool@msd.k12.ny.us. For questions about classes or grades, please contact your child’s teacher.

Massapequa Public Schools is proud to host the Special Olympics New York Spring Games on Saturday, May 2, 2026 and we invite organizations to take part in this meaningful community event. A great way for any organization to get involved is through event sponsorship and by hosting an interactive booth in our Olympic Village. Sponsorship opportunities offer various levels of visibility and engagement, and details can be found in the linked flyer. The Olympic Village provides athletes and families with fun activities throughout the day, and organizations are welcome to host a booth by completing the registration form linked in the flyer included in the Olympic Village packet. Please note that booths may offer games and activities, but no food, face painting, or large prizes.

Your participation helps create an inclusive and memorable experience for all athletes. To join us, simply review the linked event packet and complete the sponsorship and registration forms.

There’s still time to register for the 3rd Annual Parent University on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the AMES School Campus. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and we invite all MSD parents and guardians to join us for an evening designed to inform, inspire, and strengthen the home school partnership.

This year’s program begins with a special Keynote exploring The Journey of a Massapequa Student, featuring our Superintendent of Schools and reflections from our school community, followed by an engaging discussion on how families and schools work together. Parents will then attend two workshop sessions (7:10 to 7:55 PM and 8:00 to 8:45 PM), with topics including:

• The Classroom and Beyond: Building Resilience Through Connection

• Inside the Screen: What Parents Need to Know

• AI in Education: Empowering Parents in a New Era of Learning

• Growing into Kindergarten: Play, Independence, and Social Success

• Helping Your Child Achieve Success Independently

• Mindfulness Matters at Home: Lessons from Our Students

• Planning with Purpose: A Parent’s Guide Through Middle School, High School, and Beyond!

For families with children in grades K-5, supervised activity rooms will be available during the event. Pre-registration is required.

This special evening is an opportunity to gain practical strategies, connect with other parents, and partner with our educators to support your child’s growth academically, socially, and emotionally.

Board of Education & Library Board Election Information

Candidate Petition Packets for Trustee of the Board of Education and Trustee of the Library Board are now available, at the Administration Building, 4925 Merrick Road, Massapequa. 
District Residents who are interested in seeking election to the Board of Education or the Library Board may contact the District Clerk, Pamela Alvarado, at 516-308-5001.

Two Board of Education seats, which are currently held by Danielle Ocuto and Cher Lepre, respectively, are up for election this year, each for a new 3-year term, each beginning on July 1, 2026, ending June 30, 2029.

One Library Board seat, which is currently held by Catherine R. Reilly, respectively, is up for election this year, for a new 5-year term, beginning on July 1, 2026, ending June 30, 2031.

Minimum qualifications are:
Must be at least 18 years of age
A resident of the District for one year
A qualified voter of the District
Must be able to read and write

Completed petitions must be filed with the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We were informed that one of our Berner students was approached by a stranger yesterday while on their way to the bus stop in their neighborhood. The student’s parents contacted the school district and law enforcement. We are sharing this information with you as a reminder to speak with your children about the importance of staying alert to their surroundings and never engaging with strangers.

Please report any suspicious activity to both law enforcement and school personnel right away. Parents are also welcome to contact our 24-hour district security desk at (516) 308-5333 with any concerns of this nature.

As you know, Massapequa will host the New York Special Olympic Games on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Berner Middle School.

As part of this exciting event, we are proud to announce that Massapequa will participate with our own Special Olympics Track and Field Teams. We are inviting eligible students to join our teams and take part in this meaningful and inclusive athletic experience.

Student eligibility requirements include being an MSD-enrolled student who is 8 years old or older by May 2, 2026, and who has an intellectual and/or developmental disability. Practices are planned for two days per week during the months of March and April. This program focuses on participation, skill development, teamwork, and celebrating each athlete’s abilities.

Good morning Massapequa,

After several days of winter weather disruptions, we were glad to welcome students back to school on a normal schedule today. While some additional snowfall during this morning’s commute caused delays and made travel more difficult, we appreciate your patience and understanding during arrival time.

I am happy to share that students are safely in our buildings and learning is well underway. As always, their safety remains our highest priority, and we continuously do our best to monitor conditions to make informed decisions in the best interest of our school community.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated staff, including our facilities and grounds department, transportation team, clerical teams, teachers, support staff and administrators, who worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure our schools were ready to welcome students back. Their commitment and teamwork are what allowed for a safe reopening under challenging conditions.

To our Massapequa Family,

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our grounds and facilities teams, I am pleased to share that tomorrow, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, our schools will open under normal operating procedures.

Given the significant snowfall, we know that getting around town tomorrow may take a little extra time. Please plan accordingly and use caution as you travel. Our buses may experience delays in some neighborhoods, and we appreciate your patience.

Most importantly, we understand these conditions are beyond anyone’s control. Our schools will exercise flexibility with lateness as everyone arrives safely.

Once again, I would like to extend my sincere thanks — and I know our entire community joins me — in expressing deep appreciation to our grounds crew, custodians, facilities staff and leadership who worked around the clock to clear our campuses, prepare our buildings, and ensure our buses are ready to roll.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership, your patience, and your shared commitment to keeping our students safe — we look forward to welcoming all of our students and staff back tomorrow.

And despite what it looks like outside right now, spring really is closer than it feels. Believe it or not, our high school spring sports season begins in just 13 days. After everything we’ve shoveled this week, that’s a number worth holding onto!
