2026-2027 Transportation Request for Private | Parochial Schools

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2026

  • A separate application must be submitted for each child and must be submitted every year, even if a child is currently receiving transportation. 

  • All Massapequa residents attending private/parochial school must be registered with the Massapequa School district in order to complete the application and receive transportation and other services, such as textbooks.

  • Eligibility guidelines:

    • Kindergarteners must be 5 years old as of 12/1/2026

    • Mileage

      • Kindergarten - more than .5 (1/2 mile)

      • Grades 1 through 5 - more than .8 mile

      • Grades 6 through 12 - more than 1 mile

      • Transportation is not provided to or from a school over 15 miles from the residence

Bus Pass Information

All bus pass information is available via the Parent and Secondary Student Portal by choosing the Transportation Info icon located in the navigation menu. The information displayed will include the bus number, bus stop location and pick up/drop off times. 

  • Children should arrive at their bus stop at least TEN MINUTES before the indicated pick up time.

  • All bus drivers will have a list of students on the bus so there is no need to print or show a bus pass.

  • All Kindergarten students must be escorted to and from their bus stop.

  • Private/parochial students will receive a mailing with bus pass information.

  • In order to have the safest and most efficient transportation system possible, please review the district's Code of Conduct.

If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Office. Requests for bus stop changes must be submitted in writing to the Transportation Office. Any approved changes will be implemented on or after September 30th.

Transportation Guidelines

NYS School districts are required by the Education Law to provide transportation for all elementary pupils residing more than two miles from school and for secondary pupils residing more than three miles from school. The Massapequa Board of Education has set the minimum distance from School requirements as follows.

Grade Level Distance from School:
 Kindergarten:  .5 mile
 Grades 1-5:  .8 mile
 Grades 6-12:  1 mile

Our bus email communication tool, RoutefinderGo, is used to inform parents/guardians of students on regularly scheduled bus routes with important announcements and delays expected to be over fifteen minutes.

Transportation for Private | Parochial Schools

Residents of the Massapequa School District whose children will be attending a private/parochial school in the 2026-2027 school year may submit an application for transportation. Please see section below for transportation eligibility and the application process.

Transportation Requests for Childcare Location

All residents of the Massapequa School District requesting transportation for childcare locations MUST submit an application for transportation to childcare location on or before April 1, 2026 in order to be eligible for the 2026-2027 school year.

Bus Stop Changes

Requests for bus stop changes must be submitted in writing to the Transportation Office.
