The 2026-2027 school year officially began in Massapequa on Sept. 2 as more than 6,000 students in grades 1-12 arrived for the first day of classes. Doors opened at the nine schools beginning with the high school’s main and Ames campuses, followed by Berner Middle School and finally the elementary schools.
Massapequa’s learners and leaders settled in to their classrooms quickly and were ready for an exciting year ahead. In the elementary schools, they unpacked supplies and learned classrooms routines, while at the middle school and high school campuses, they reviewed course objectives and expectations.
This year’s theme in Massapequa is “The Leader Within: Driven by Purpose, Inspired to Act, Lifting Others.” Kindergartners, who will comprise the Massapequa High School Class of 2039, arrive on Sept. 3.
