Students in Sonja Barrera’s Advanced Placement Computer Science courses at the Massapequa High School main and Ames campuses recently visited Adelphi University to participate in the new Artificial Intelligence Group Visit Experience.
In a series of hands-on activities, students analyzed and carried out the step-by-step processes of simplified AI algorithms. There were also discussions on current capabilities and limitations of AI, how to use it effectively and responsibly, and predictions about what it means for the future.
About 30 students attended the trip, which was organized through the high school’s School-to-Career program. After the workshop they attended an information session to learn about Adelphi, took a brief tour of the campus and had lunch in the student center.
