Superintendent's Office

December 23, 2025

To our Massapequa Family,

As we approach December recess and the close of 2025, I’ve had the opportunity to be especially present across our schools — in classrooms, hallways, and auditoriums filled with learning, music, and conversation. There is a clear sense of momentum in Massapequa, as everything continues to build and move forward together — a true crescendo.

I’ve seen students proudly share their learning, performers take the stage with confidence, classmates support one another, and teachers guide moments that matter. These often-quiet interactions form the fabric of our schools, and two recent moments in particular have stayed with me.

After a championship game, I watched one student-athlete approach his team captain and simply say, “Thank you for your leadership. You led us to greatness.” It was a brief but powerful reflection of gratitude, character, and leadership that gave me the chills.

Just as meaningful was a recent conversation with high school students and staff about a new video broadcasting class and sports broadcasting club. As they shared their proposals for expansion, one senior remarked, “Even though I won’t be here to see the final result, I care deeply about making sure future students benefit from what we’re building.” That spirit of service and belief in something bigger than oneself is alive and well in our schools.

There are countless examples like these throughout our schools, and they bring to mind a simple truth captured by Carl Rogers: “We are always becoming, never arriving.” That idea comes to life every day in Massapequa — in our classrooms, on our stages, on our fields, and in the relationships that shape our students.

As we pause for December recess, thank you to the students, families, teachers, staff, and administrators who make Massapequa special. What we are building together matters.

We invite you to watch our Massapequa School District Holiday Video - located on our YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/massapequaps

On behalf of the Massapequa Board of Education and our administrative team, I wish you and your loved ones a joyful, restful, and healthy holiday season.

Warmest wishes,
Dr. William Brennan
Superintendent of Schools
