The Massapequa School District is excited to announce the annual Science Discovery Fair for students in grades K-8. Many students have competed in previous years, and we are committed to making this year better than ever before! The 2026 Discovery Fair will be divided into two separate competitions both being held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the Berner Middle School Cafeteria.

The science research program at the Massapequa School District is one that supports students who strive to achieve award-winning recognition in national science competitions. This program reinforces New York State Regents standards by emphasizing critical thinking and the integration of Math, Science, and Technology in a project-oriented research environment.

Applicant Requirements:
Student should be in Accelerated Science with a minimum of a 90 average in both math and science.
Student must complete the MSD Science Research Program Application for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Student must obtain two (2) teacher recommendations. After completing the application, please forward this Letter of Recommendation Form to your selected teachers.
The science program in the Massapequa School District is designed to encourage critical thinking, problem solving and curiosity. Students are prepared for upper-level courses by integrating science education with other curricular areas in the elementary schools, providing a rigorous middle school course of study and many options for all learners at the high school level.
The district offers all AP science courses available as well as College Forensic Technology, College Anatomy and Physiology, and College Marine Science. There are many elective courses such as Marine Science, Environmental Science and for students in grade 9 - Science Research, Laboratory Skills for Research and Meteorology.
