Inside Out Concert for Grade 3

The Massapequa Fine & Performing Arts department would like to announce the 2026 Massapequa Philharmonic Inside Out Informance. The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the Berner Middle School Cafeteria at 1:00 pm. Third grade students will soon have the opportunity to select an instrument to begin playing next fall. The Inside Out Informance by the Massapequa Philharmonic is a wonderful way for your child to begin to explore possible instrument choices.

The Inside Out Informance is an opportunity for third grade students to sit inside the orchestra with the musicians and to experience what it is like to be in the ensemble. Following the Inside Out Informance, students can participate in the Instrument Meet and Greet; a time to speak with teachers and students, see the instruments up close, and ask questions.

The full schedule is:
12:45 pm: Students Arrive
1:00 pm: Inside Out Informance
1:30 pm: Instrument Meet & Greet
Seating is limited to 115 third grade students and a parent escort. To sign up your child for this exciting program, visit https://forms.gle/u6Tr2tLrofPGW58t9 to access the registration form.

We look forward to welcoming you to the music performance program here in Massapequa.

Musically yours,
Vincent Green

Dear Lockhart Families: It is with great pleasure to announce that Lockhart Elementary is hosting its 3rd annual First Responder Appreciation Day on May 21! With the help of Mrs. Delwey and the PTA, First Responder Appreciation Day will give our school the chance to thank and learn from the amazing emergency workers that we have right here in our community. The past two years were one of the most special days in Lockhart history and we are looking forward to welcoming the entire NCPD and all of their departments once again. Also, we need you! We are looking for our Lockhart Police Officers, Firefighters, EMS workers, Health Care workers, or anyone else in the First Responder category to come to and join us for the morning. If you are one or you have someone in your family that is a First Responder, we would love to have them come to Lockhart that morning and talk to your child's class. More information to come but save the date, May 21! We know you will need time to ensure you have the availability.

Dear Lockhart Families: Just to clarify, the 100 day t shirts is a Kindergarten activity, as they always either create T Shirts or dress like they are 100 years old. The T Shirts is not a school wide initiative. Sorry for the confusing message before.

Dear Lockhart Families: Friday, February 13th is a big day at Lockhart! We will be celebrating the 100th Day of School and PS I Love You Day! Both of these days are very special in the elementary setting and classes have fun activities planned throughout the day. The 100th Day of School is always special, especially for Kindergarten. Learning activities and fun games will revolve around the number 100 and students are invited to make special 100 Day t shirts to celebrate! PS I Love You Day is also a very important day in this country. Celebrated every year on the second Friday of February, PS I Love You Day invites communities to wear purple in order to foster kindness and a welcoming and caring environment. The message behind this day is promoting kindness, encouraging self-care, and reminding others that they are loved! While we are excited for the upcoming February break, Friday is special day at Lockhart.

Dear Lockhart Families: Every year, our Student Council runs different charity drives. One of it's favorite and most thoughtful is their "Soup-er Bowl Drive." From now until 2/6, Student Council is asking for donations of cans of soup that will be donated to the St. Rose Food Pantry. There will be boxes in the main lobby where students can drop their cans of soup and vote for who think they will win the Super Bowl. Please consider donating to this wonderful cause.

Activities have been planned for the week and everyone is very excited for it to begin. Remember to read every night and log your minutes using the QR code on the Parent letter attachment below. The Book Fair will also being going on in the gym from 5:45-7:30. Tomorrow's dress up theme is Black and White day as we get set to travel from Kansas to the Land of Oz!

Dear Lockhart Families: Next week begins our annual PARP Week with our theme this year being the "Wizard of Oz!" From 1/29-2/6, we have fun activities planned to instill a love of reading in all. Some of the activities include our Kickoff event, an author visit with Peter Catalanotto, Book Reunion Day, and our annual Book Fair. The school and gym are being transformed into the wonderful world of Oz with decorations all around. Each night, kids should be reading at least 15 minutes and logging minutes via the QR code. We will update the totals through the week and our overall goal is 50,000 minutes. Top readers from each class will get a special prize of covering Mr. DeLuca in Silly String or potentially something new this year! Top classes will win extra recess, a pajama day, or something else they decide on. There are PTA at home reading activities as well and children can bring in their slips every morning for a chance to get pulled for a Homework Pass. We have fun dress up days planned as well starting with Black and White Day on 1/29. Just like the movie and book start in black and white, so will we! 2/4 is "Over the Rainbow Day" and each grade is assigned a different color to wear. Kindergarten-Red, 1st Grade-Orange, 2nd Grade-Yellow, 3rd Grade-Green, 4th Grade-Blue, 5th Grade-Purple. Parents have the opportunity to be a "Secret Reader" in their child's class. A packet with all the information and links was sent home last week. It includes the weekly calendar, dress up days, and other important information. There are links to all these items below. The most important thing is that kids should enjoy reading books in many different ways. It can be with a parent, sibling, in a corner, with a stuffy, over facetime...anything you can think of to have your child have fun reading. Please check out the information below.

Dear Lockhart Families: PARP Week is coming soon and this year's theme is The Wizard of Oz, with our slogan for the week, "Lions, and Tigers, and Books....Oh My!" A larger message will be sent out with more information and a packet will be sent home next week. However, we wanted to let you know that our Kickoff Event is January 29 from 6:00-7:00 in the GP Room. On this night, families come to Lockhart for a number of fun reading activities. There will be read alouds done by Secret Readers, literary stations where kids will play games, a Photo Station with Wizard of Oz characters, and our Book Fair! The Book Fair will be in the gym from 5:45-7:30 so you can come and shop before and after the Kickoff Event. As part of the night, we are asking for book donations, new or used. New books for all ages will be used as prizes during our Book Bingo and used books from your home will be donated to Book Fairies. Please consider helping with either or both of these ventures. You can RSVP to the event using the link below so we have an idea of how many families will be there. It is always a great night and a great way to kickoff a love of reading with PARP week!
