Dear Lockhart Families: This is a reminder that normal arrival procedures will go back into effect tomorrow morning. The kindergarten playground is complete and open to the students. All arrival will happen through the playground door as it always has. The car drop off line will return to it's normal spot as well. Thank you for your patience during this process.

Dear Lockhart Families: We are very excited to announce that our Kindergarten playground will officially open for the kids tomorrow! They have been patiently watching the construction and I'm sure they are ready to go. At 9:00, following our morning announcements, we are going to have a very short Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with our Kindergarten classes. We can't wait to watch their excitement!
Also, starting Thursday morning, we are going back to our typical morning arrival procedures. We will pivot back to the Kindergarten playground area and will no longer use the Front Door. The car drop off line will move back to it's original spot as well.

Dear Lockhart Families: Tomorrow, June 10 will be the last School Store session of the year. Students in grades 1-5 can shop during lunch.

Dear Lockhart Families: Our Kindergarten playground is complete and the kids will be able to use it next week! This is so exciting for them as we know they have been watching the construction unfold right in front of them. We want to thank the town of Massapequa and the District Office for helping us add such a wonderful playground to our school! We are going to have a small student and staff only Ribbon Cutting ceremony to open it up. On another note, the demolition of our main playground is set to start early next week. The kids will be able to use it until that happens but we anticipate Monday or Tuesday being the last day. The construction won't be done until early July, so for the remainder of the year the students will have the field and blacktop for recess. There will only be a handful of recess days left so we know the students will be able to manage. Thank you again!

Dear Lockhart Families: This is a reminder that no student will be dismissed early today following Field Day. All students will re-enter the building after our Staff/Student photo and will be dismissed at regular time.

Dear Lockhart Families: The memo below informs everyone of the Early Dismissal Schedule for the last three days of school. A hard copy is going home with the kids as well.

Dear Lockhart Families: We are very excited for our Field Day 2025 on Friday, June 6! As always, it promises to be one of the most memorable days of the year. While it is fun for all, it is also a day where help is needed. If you are volunteering, please sign in at the Front Desk and take your bracelet. Only those parents on the Volunteer List will be allowed into the building. Also, please be mindful and exit the back field through the front doors when your volunteering time is up. We have over 200 parents attending and it will be too chaotic if everyone stays. We are so grateful that you can volunteer your time but the safety of our students is the top priority. If students have to go to the bathroom, we have plenty of staff that will take them in. We are keeping the school to students and staff only. Please remind your kids to wear sun block, a hat, and bring a full water bottle and sharpie (to sign shirts if wanted). If you have any questions, please reach out to the PTA.

Dear Fifth Grade Families: Our Moving Up Ceremony is approaching and we wanted to send home some information regarding the day. A memo was sent home yesterday with the children as well. The ceremony is June 24, 9:00, at McKenna School. Please drop the kids off between 8:20-8:30 in the Senior Center Parking Lot. Only students will exit the car and enter the Senior Center. No parents will be allowed in. Please exit the parking lot and find parking on the neighboring streets. The parent line will form at the front doors. Please be mindful that McKenna is in session that day. We will open the doors at 8:45. There are plenty of seats and not a bad seat in the house. There will be some reserved seats in the front for staff and PTA Board Members. Please do not sit in a seat with a Reserved Sign. If anyone has a family member with a serious health issue, and needs to have them sit in the lobby instead of standing on line, please reach out to me. The memo that was sent home with the kids is in the link below.

Dear Lockhart Families: We are all looking forward to the month of June! Beginning this Monday, Extra Help will no longer be held. No more early morning wake ups for some students!

Dear Grade 4 Parents/Guardians,
All Grade 4 students will be exchanging their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook in the coming weeks.
Please note the following: If applicable, please remove any personal protective cases from the Chromebook. Students need to bring their current fully charged Chromebook and charger to school on the date indicated by their classroom teacher. Students will keep their current Chromebook bag. The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.) The new Chromebooks may have limited/no battery charge. Teachers have been informed and will plan accordingly.
Thank you, The Massapequa School District

Dear 4th Grade Families: Every year, schools are randomly chosen to complete a NYS Field Test which gives valuable feedback to the development of assessments.
