Dear Berner Parents/Guardians and Students,
The NYS Science Grade 8 Exam will be administered to non-accelerated 8th grade science students tomorrow, May 13, during periods 1-3. Upon arrival to school tomorrow, all 8th grade students will report directly to their homerooms, where morning attendance will be taken.
Following homeroom:
8th grade students taking the exam will report to their assigned testing rooms with a charged Chromebook. (The test is computer-based.)
8th grade students refusing the exam will report to the classroom they have been assigned.
Earth Science students will report to the cafeteria for a practice Regents exam.
All 8th grade students will report to their 4th period class immediately following the testing period.
***PLEASE NOTE: 6th and 7th grade students will not be impacted by the science exam and will follow the regular 9-period school day.
Thank you,

Dear Parents and Guardians,
A safety concern was recently brought to the attention of the Berner Middle School administration. As per district protocols and procedures the matter was investigated. We also notified our Central Office and the Nassau County Police Department, who participated in the investigation and ultimately deemed the issue non-credible. The issue was also addressed, pursuant to the Code of Conduct, with the parents/students involved.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is always our top priority. We will continue to work closely with the Central Office and law enforcement in taking necessary precautions to maintain a safe and secure school environment at Berner.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Jason Esposito

Monday, May 5th
Grade 7 Band, Flute Choir and Vocal Points at 7:00 pm

Due to the number of participants and in order for us to ensure there is a seat for each member of the audience, we ask that families limit guests to 4 attendees for each concert. With just over 800 seats in the newly renovated Berner Auditorium, we must comply with the fire safety code by not permitting standing in the aisles during performances.

Thank you for your continued support.

Dear Parents,
With the weather warming up for the spring season, there are several rules and guidelines that need to be reviewed. As always, your cooperation is needed in order to assist us in maintaining a positive educational environment that helps to ensure our children’s health and safety. Your help in speaking with your child about the importance of adhering to the following regarding attire is appreciated.
Extremely brief garments, such as short-shorts and/or overly short skirts, tank tops, strapless tops, plunging necklines, and see-through garments are not appropriate and should not be worn to school at any time.
Underwear and midriffs need to be covered with outer clothing. Garments that reveal a student’s mid-section may not be worn to school at any time.
Baseball caps, hats, and athletic headbands may not be worn in the school building.
Footwear should be appropriate for school and not interfere with safety.
Please note that parents may be contacted to bring appropriate attire to the school for their child to change into. Your continued support always means so much to us!
Sincerely,
Jason Esposito
