Dear Berner Parents, Students, and Staff,
Chief Challenge is sponsoring Berner's 14th annual Souper Bowl drive. We are asking students and staff to bring in non-perishable food and cast their vote for who they would like to win the 2026 Super Bowl. Donation boxes for the Seattle Sea Hawks and the New England Patriots will be located in front of the auditorium beginning on January 29th.
We would also like to encourage students and staff to wear their favorite sports jersey or shirt on Friday, February 6th to support Berner's Souper Bowl drive.
Kindly click on the link: BMS Souper Bowl Drive 2026
Proceeds will go to Long Island Cares which has an unprecedented number of families in need and their banks are low.
Together, we can restock our local food banks.
Thank you!
Ms. Glynn and Ms. Happe
Chief Challenge Advisors
Berner Middle School has emergency plans and procedures to protect our students and staff during emergencies, as everyone's safety remains our top priority. To that end, it is important for us to consistently review and practice our emergency procedures throughout the school year. This is done by engaging our students and staff in a series of drills, both announced and unannounced. Safety exercises, such as fire drills, secure lockout drills, lockdown drills, shelter drills, relocations, and evacuation drills are done periodically.
On Thursday, January 15, 2026 we will perform a lockdown drill, which we implement to practice addressing a potential situation that involves a threat inside of the building. Over the remainder of the year, we will continue to run safety drills to ensure that we always remain vigilant and prepared.
As always, your continued support is appreciated.
Jason Esposito, Beth Mullins, Keri Wing, Rob Tucker, Kristen Meoli, Ed Hoffman, and Ken Petersen
