Dear Ames Families,
Welcome back from spring recess! We hope that you were able to enjoy the time off and that you have returned to school feeling refreshed as we approach the last marking period of the academic year.
Once third quarter grades and teacher comments are finalized in PowerSchool this week , please review the information in the Portal regarding students' performance and/or areas of concern. After reviewing these grades and comments, students and parents are encouraged to speak directly with the appropriate classroom teacher and/or guidance counselor with any questions.
As a reminder for this week, we look forward to welcoming Massapequa School District alumni at our annual Alumni Career Day. The students will be following an adjusted bell schedule to support the panel discussions for the program that day: Alumni Career Day Bell Schedule. Students will be afforded the opportunity to learn about a variety of careers and experiences from former graduates.
In addition, please note that we will still continue to exercise a variety of mandatory emergency management drills throughout the remainder of the school year. This week, we will be conducting a lockdown drill. A school lockdown is a procedure used when there is an immediate and imminent threat inside the school building. In the event of a lockdown, parents will not be able to sign-out children until the circumstances have been deemed safe. We continue to work in collaboration with our District Security team and Nassau County Police Department in an effort to support the safety of all students and staff in our school community.

We would like to thank you for your ongoing support with our new website and app! If you haven’t downloaded our app yet, please visit the Apple or Google Play store and search for the Massapequa School District.
As a reminder, our district app currently offers:

• Access to our spotlight, events/calendar, lunch menus, and district/school webpages
As we shared at the end of last school year and throughout this school year, we are excited to announce the launch of our “Rooms” parent-teacher communication app/website feature! After ongoing district planning and training, the “Rooms” communication feature will be ready on April 30th. With this new feature, all of our instructional staff and parents will be able to communicate through this common platform to streamline communications.
With Rooms, you’ll have access to even more exciting features like:
• Stream: A place where communication/announcements can be posted by teachers/staff
• Messages: Direct communication from teachers/staff to parents and parents to teachers/staff
We will be sharing additional information and directions on how to access your account in the near future!

Dear Ames Families,
Hopefully this email finds you well as we continue to move forward in the spring season. As we have seen throughout the year, students remain dedicated to and involved in a variety of engaging and exciting activities. We continue to be proud of their efforts and achievements across all areas within and beyond the school day.
This past month, our school community supported World Down Syndrome Day, which included “Rock Your Socks!”. On Wednesday, April 2nd, it is World Autism Awareness Day and students and staff are invited to celebrate Autism Acceptance by wearing blue. Then, on Fridays throughout the month of April, students and staff are also invited to wear blue for Disability Awareness Month.
Next week, from Monday, April 7th - Friday, April 11th, Ames Campus will be joining MHS-Main Campus for a “Spring into Spirit Week” with dress up days as follows:
Monday - Spring Awakening Day (Start your week in comfy pajamas)
Tuesday - Tye Dye Tuesday
Wednesday - Sunshine Day (Wear yellow)
Thursday - Tropical Thursday (Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, leis)
Friday - Spring Sports Recognition Day (Athletes wear your jerseys & all others wear school spirit gear)
Looking ahead, the third marking period draws to an end on Friday, April 11th. Students are encouraged to continue accessing opportunities for support available through Extra-Help and Learn-at-Lunch. Furthermore, school will be closed from Monday, April 14th through and including Monday, April 21st for Spring Recess.

The Summer Recreation and Summer Fine Arts 2025 Programs are now accepting applications for the following positions: Summer Recreation: Volunteers (Current 8th and 9th grade students), Leaders (Current 9 -12 students), College Assistant Position (Current 12th graders and Current College Students who reside in the Massapequa School District). Summer Fine Arts: Student Assistants Current 9 – 12 Students) and College Assistant Position (Current 12th graders and Current College Students who reside in the Massapequa School District).
