Dear Ames Campus Students and Families,

Welcome to the incoming 9th grade Class of 2029!  We hope that this email finds you well and enjoying the days of summer.  As we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, please mark your calendars for the Incoming Ninth Grade Student Orientation and Walkthrough scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th. The program will include a welcome and informational session in the Ames cafetorium followed by an opportunity to tour the building.

A reminder about the student orientation program will be included in the summer mailing, which you will receive in later August.  It is also anticipated that you will have access to a tentative student schedule available through PowerSchool Portal prior to the orientation and walkthrough.

Best wishes throughout the many weeks of summer still ahead of us, and we look forward to seeing you at the end of August!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Tania M. Willman, Principal

To Our Massapequa Family, As summer approaches, I’m filled with deep gratitude for all we’ve shared this year. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of joining many of you—cheering at championship games, celebrating at concerts and field days, honoring milestones at moving-up ceremonies, and rejoicing at graduations. Each of these moments has been a powerful reminder that Massapequa is more than a district—it’s a family. Dear MSD Parents/Guardians, We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding how we communicate with you about unverified student absences. In our ongoing efforts to improve communication and ensure easy access to notifications, we are transitioning from phone message alerts to text messages and emails for unverified absences. What This Means for You: • If your child is marked absent and the absence has not been verified, you will receive a text message and email instead of a phone call. • This new system will allow for quicker, more convenient communication and help ensure that you are promptly informed. As a reminder, all parents are asked to complete the Student Absence Notification Form located on the Parent Portal to inform the school of a verified absence. Thank you for your continued support with our communications. Sincerely, The Massapequa School District

Dear Ames Families, Next week, on Monday, June 16th, it will be our last day of classes at the Ames Campus. Please note, however, that this Wednesday, June 11th, only students taking the Geometry Regents Exam will be reporting to school (refer to Final Exam Schedule) that day. In addition, we ask that you please read the information below regarding locker cleanout, remaining final/Regents exams, as well as absence and cell phone policy reminders during the exam period. Locker Cleanout Locker cleanout will occur this week on Thursday, June 12th (2nd Floor) and Friday, June 13th (1st Floor). Students should bring all personal items home. All lockers must be emptied by the end of the school day on Monday, June 16th, and students will not have access to their lockers beyond Monday. In addition, students are to retain their locks for use at MHS-Main Campus in the next academic school year. Finals/Regents Exams Please review the Final Exam/Regents schedule and the transportation schedule. If you or your child has any further questions, please encourage them to visit the Guidance Office. Ames Final Exam Schedule - June 2025 Ames Final Exam Transportation Schedule - June 2025 As a reminder, final exams and Regents Exams constitute 12% of a student’s grade in the course. Students should fully prepare for these assessments to the greatest extent possible. There are still opportunities to attend Learn at Lunch this week as well as extra-help in the final days of school. Beginning on Tuesday, June 17, 2024 students will report to school only if they have a scheduled final or Regents examination. Any illness-related absence June 11 and June 17-June 24 must be verified with a note from a physician. Students who are illegally absent will receive a grade of zero. Students are prohibited from having possession of electronic devices including, but not limited to: a cell phone, iPod, MPS Player, iPad, camera, headphones, smartwatch, and AirPods while in a testing room and/or during a testing administration. Students who bring devices with them to a test must provide those devices to the testing proctor. Throughout the course of the school year, students have worked diligently to build a strong foundation for tenth grade and beyond. We encourage all students to continue doing as best as they can in preparation for finals and Regents examinations. Sincerely, Tania M. Willman, Principal Danielle E.
