Dear Ames Families,

Good afternoon!  As noted on the school district calendar, the Ames Winter Music Concert is taking place at 8pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in the Baldwin Auditorium at Massapequa High School (Main Campus). We respectfully request that those who attend the concert stay for the full duration of the performance. When people in the audience enter and leave, they disrupt the concert and others who are trying to enjoy their child’s performance. Our students have practiced since the beginning of the school year and look forward to showcasing their exemplary work. In this regard, they all deserve our full attention and respect. In addition, barring an unforeseen emergency, no performing student will be permitted to leave the concert early.

We appreciate your cooperation and your efforts to ensure a full audience for our students’ performances. On behalf of Mr. Gilbert, Mr. Perticone, and Ms. Tymochko-Dekajlo, we welcome our Ames families to enjoy an outstanding musical performance. For further information specific to each ensemble, please visit the teacher’s Schoology page. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Dear Ames Families,

As a reminder, this week we have been in the process of in-class midterms and regular full length midterm examinations are scheduled for next week beginning on Tuesday, January 20th.  Therefore, during the week of January 20th through January 23rd, students will report to school for their scheduled exams only.  Please review the following important information:

  • Students are required to report for all scheduled examinations. If a student is unable to attend school on the day of an exam due to illness, they must provide a stamped medical doctor’s note excusing them for that day. Medical documentation will allow the student to take a make-up exam after school on Monday, January 26th or Tuesday, January 27th at 2:30pm in Room 122. An absence without a stamped medical doctor’s note will result in a grade of zero for the missed exam.

  • Students are prohibited from having possession of internet enabled or electronic devices including, but not limited to a cell phone, air pods, ear buds, iPod, MPS Player, iPad, camera, headphones, smartwatch, while in a testing room, restroom and/or during testing administration. Students are responsible to bring in pens, pencils, and calculators for their exams.

  • Students are to continue wearing school issued lanyards and student IDs throughout the midterm exam week.

  • In the event of school closure due to inclement weather, we will continue to follow the schedule as planned.

Please note that schools will be closed on Monday, January 19th in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Furthermore, the second marking period concludes on Friday, January 23rd following midterms.

We continue to appreciate your ongoing support and cooperation throughout the school year. Please feel free to reach out with questions, concerns or further assistance that you may need.

Sincerely,

Tania M. Willman, Principal
