Dear Ames Families,

On Monday, September 22nd, the Ames site-based Shared Decision Making (SDM) Committee is scheduled to hold its first meeting of the 2025-2026 school year at 2:30 p.m. in Room 133.  This site-based forum allows faculty and staff, students, parents and administrators to come together once a month in order to discuss ideas and practices in order to make recommendations that will positively impact our school.  At this time, we are looking for some interest from parents/guardians and students in joining the committee.  The meetings are anticipated to conclude before the 3:10pm late bus dismissal for students, but can be adjusted as needs and time permit.  Please respond to dkennedy@msd.k12.ny.us by the end of the day on Friday, 9/19 if you would like to join us as a member for this year.

Sincerely,

Tania M. Willman, Principal

Dear Ames Families,

Picture Day for student portraits will be held on Monday, September 15th (Day 2) and Tuesday, September 16th (Day 1).  All students are invited to have their freshman class portraits taken in the Small Gym during their Physical Education classes. A make-up session has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 28th outside the cafeteria during lunch periods.  Please note that students will be photographed against a green screen in order to offer a variety of background choices. For best results, it is recommended that students avoid wearing complicated patterns or shades of green.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Tania M. Willman, Principal

Dear Ames Families,

Good afternoon. Looking ahead to this week, students will be practicing a bus safety drill tomorrow, Tuesday, September 9th, upon their morning arrival to the school building.  Students will be guided by their bus drivers and staff members supervising the arrival areas. Please be reminded that Back-to-School Night is being held for parents/guardians on Wednesday, September 10th at 7pm. The course of the evening will be following a Day 1 student schedule.  In addition, on Thursday, we invite students and staff to wear patriotic colors in recognition of the anniversary of September 11th,  our "Patriot Day".

Thank you for your support and cooperation, and please reach out with any assistance you may need as we navigate the week ahead.

Sincerely,

Hello Massapequa!

It’s that time! After nearly a year in the making, we’re proud to share a video capturing the heart, spirit, and pride of Massapequa: our students, our staff, and our community.

More than words, this is the story of our commitment — a community built on connection, tradition, and the belief that together we can unlock a world of possibility for every child. In just 2 minutes and 43 seconds, this video reaffirms our vision: “Creating Leaders… One Child at a Time.”

I hope you enjoy it, and I invite you to share this inspiring message. Now, let’s get to the show. 💙💛
