Dear Berner Bus 14 Families,
As you may be aware, an incident occurred this afternoon involving Bus 14. During the route home, an issue arose that required the bus driver to safely pull over in the shopping center parking lot across from John Burns Park on Merrick Road. As such, students were transferred to a replacement bus, and the route then continued so that all students could arrive home safely.
While the bus was stopped, several parents came to the location to pick up their children. We greatly appreciate everyone's understanding, patience, and cooperation throughout the situation.
I would also like to commend the students on Bus 14, as they remained calm, patient, and cooperative while awaiting the replacement bus.

We are excited to announce that our annual "Berner Boo'd" fundraiser will take place on Friday, October 30th! Prior to the event, students will be selling candy "boos" for $1.00 each.
These "boos" will be on sale during all lunch periods on Monday, October 26th, through Thursday, October 29th. They will be distributed to students during homeroom on Friday, October 30th.

Our evacuation drill previously set for Tuesday, October 20, 2026 has been rescheduled. The drill is now planned for Monday, October 26, 2026. Berner Thinks Pink Day has been set for Thursday, October 22nd! All students and staff are encouraged to show support by wearing pink on October 22.

Student Council will be selling t-shirts leading up to the event (on Monday, October 19, Tuesday, October 20, and Wednesday, October 21) during lunch periods (while supplies last). On the day of the event, we will have a variety of items being sold such as stickers, bracelets, socks, and lollipops. Please encourage your students to participate.

We are excited to share a new Berner Middle School Club Calendar designed to help students and families stay informed about our many club opportunities. The calendar includes all club offerings, meeting dates, and room locations. A link to the calendar is included below, and it will also continue to be available on the Berner website under the Student Life tab in the School Clubs section. Families can also find a complete listing of all Berner clubs and their advisors in the School Clubs section of the website.

Berner Middle School Club Calendar

We created this calendar because we anticipate it will be a valuable resource for our students, families, and staff. To assist with planning, the calendar will display club meetings for both the current month and the following month. It will also match the club meeting dates posted on the bulletin board outside the General Office.

Please note that while this is a live document and updates can be made when necessary, we encourage families to use it as their primary source for club meeting information. In the event that a meeting needs to be canceled or rescheduled, the original meeting date will not be removed. Instead, it will be crossed out and updated so that families can identify any changes.
We hope this resource makes it easier for students to take advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities available at Berner.

These practice drills—such as fire, secure lockout, lockdown, shelter, relocation, and evacuation drills—are a routine part of keeping our school community safe.
On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, we will be conducting an evacuation drill, which helps us practice how to respond in the unlikely event of our need to seek safety outside of the school building. We will continue to hold a variety of safety drills over the remainder of the year to ensure that our students and staff feel confident and ready in any situation.
