Good Afternoon-
Massapequa High School- Main Campus continues its' NYS required practice of emergency drills in coordination with district security, NCPD and local fire officials. This helps ensure law enforcement is familiar with our buildings and procedures in the event of a real emergency. This also allows MHS to build great relationships with our first responders.
You are receiving notification that a lockdown drill is scheduled to be conducted within the next 5 school days at the Main Campus. Please know that we are taking many steps to keep our building safe. Drills are completely precautionary and are an opportunity to practice keeping our students safe in the event of an emergency.
For drills that could potentially cause trauma, such as lockdown drills, we inform all students and staff in advance that the exercise is only a drill to ease any possible concerns. These drills provide us with useful information in how we design our School Safety Plans and what, if any, changes need to be made in procedure. We have teams that regularly review our procedures to help ensure we are providing the safest school environment we can for our students and staff.
Thank you

Hello Massapequa!
It’s that time! After nearly a year in the making, we’re proud to share a video capturing the heart, spirit, and pride of Massapequa: our students, our staff, and our community.
More than words, this is the story of our commitment — a community built on connection, tradition, and the belief that together we can unlock a world of possibility for every child. In just 2 minutes and 43 seconds, this video reaffirms our vision: “Creating Leaders… One Child at a Time.”
I hope you enjoy it, and I invite you to share this inspiring message. Now, let’s get to the show. 💙💛

Good afternoon MHS Families,
Welcome to the start of a new school year! We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and achievement together. As we embark on this journey, we want to extend a warm welcome to all returning students and a special greeting to those joining us for the first time.
Today, all students attended grade level orientation assemblies. The building administration presented and explained important information to the classes outlining the protocols, procedures, expectations, and reminders that we hope will set our students up for success this year. We are sharing the slideshow with you so that the message is consistent between home and school.
Key Points that we would like to reinforce are:
1. Cell phone and device procedures are off and away while in the hallways, stairwells, and bathrooms. Teachers will collect and store cell phones during instructional periods. Students can access their cell phones during lunch and /or off periods.
2. All students driving to and from school must have a valid NYS Drivers License, not a junior license (https://dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/younger-driver/the-graduated-license-law ). Students must follow and abide by all parking regulations in the public and private lots/streets surrounding the high school. We have received communication from the local businesses that students have been illegally parking in the lots. Senior parking lottery applications are due on Friday, Sept 9, 2025.
3. Emergency drill procedures and building security protocols were highlighted during the assembly. Parents will receive prior notification of the dates of secure lock out drills, lockdown drills and evacuation drills.
We had a great first couple of days here at MHS and know that it will be a great year ahead.
Reminder- 10th and 11th grade students will have their school photos taken Thursday and Friday during their P.E. classes.
We look forward to meeting you at Back-to-School night on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at 7pm.
Thank you
MHS Admin.
