Subject: Important Update Regarding School Safety
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are writing to address rumors that have been circulating regarding potential threats to the high school main campus. We understand that information of this nature can be concerning, and we want to provide you with clear and accurate information.
Please be assured that the Nassau County Police Department and Nassau County Homeland Security have thoroughly investigated all reports received by the district. At this time, it has been determined that there is no credible threat to our building.
Our building administration, central administration, and district security take all reports of this nature extremely seriously. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff, and we will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to ensure that safety remains our top priority.
We also ask for your partnership in reminding students about the importance of responsible communication. Rumors and unverified information can cause unnecessary concern and disrupt the school environment. We encourage students to report any concerns directly to school personnel so they can be properly addressed.
If you have any specific concerns or questions, please feel free to contact the school directly.
Thank you for your continued support and trust.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are writing to bring your attention to a dangerous trend that has recently emerged on social media. This trend encourages users to microwave gel-filled toys, such as NeeDoh and similar products. These actions can cause the toys to rupture or explode, potentially resulting in serious burns and injuries.
As a community, it is important that we stay informed about emerging trends that may unknowingly put our children at risk. We believe it is essential to make you aware of this particularly hazardous behavior involving popular toys so that you can discuss it with your child or children, if appropriate. The safety of our students remains our top priority.
As always, we encourage parents and guardians to maintain ongoing conversations with their children about responsible social media use, the importance of sound judgment, and the potential risks and consequences associated with participating in viral challenges.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District

Over the past several days, rumors and social media posts have continued to circulate regarding an incident that occurred earlier this week during first period at Massapequa High School. Regrettably, many of the claims being shared have significantly distorted reality, including false allegations suggesting violent intent.
To be absolutely clear: We have no knowledge or reason to believe that at any time was any student doused with gasoline, nor that such an act was threatened. To this end, we have communicated with our partners at the Nassau County Police Department who have informed us that they believe the rumors being spread on social media regarding this incident are untrue.
While we understand that situations involving students can generate concern and discussion, we urge our community to act responsibly before sharing or reposting unverified information online. Regardless of individual opinions on the matter, the rumors currently being circulated involve a child, and the spreading of deliberately false information can cause real harm to students, families and the broader school community.
Please be aware that knowingly spreading false information, particularly allegations involving criminal or violent conduct, may expose individuals to legal liability from the persons they are spreading such false information about.
We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our families and community members as we continue to address this matter appropriately, responsibly and with the well-being of all students at the forefront of all decisions.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
William Brennan, Ed.D.
