Good Afternoon-
Massapequa High School- Main Campus continues its' NYS required practice of emergency drills in coordination with district security, NCPD and local fire officials. This helps ensure law enforcement is familiar with our buildings and procedures in the event of a real emergency. This also allows us to build great relationships with our first responders.
You are receiving notification that a lockdown drill is scheduled to be conducted within the next 5 school days. Please know that we are taking many steps to keep our building safe. Drills are completely precautionary and are an opportunity to practice keeping our students safe in the event of an emergency.
For drills that could potentially cause trauma, such as lockdown drills, we inform all students and staff in advance that the exercise is only a drill to ease any possible concerns. These drills provide us with useful information in how we design our School Safety Plans and what, if any, changes need to be made in procedure. We have teams that regularly review our procedures to help ensure we are providing the safest school environment we can for our students and staff.
Thank you
