Dear Grade 9 Parents/Guardians and Students,
On November 19th and 20th, all Grade 9 students will be exchanging their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook during their PE class.
Please note the following:
Students need to bring their Chromebook and charger to PE.
Students will keep their current Chromebook bag.
The new Chromebooks will have limited/no battery charge. Teachers have been informed and will plan accordingly.
The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.)
If a student is absent from class on their PE day or needs support, we ask that they visit the AHS Chrome Depot.
Thank you,
The Massapequa School District

This is a reminder that all confidential health documents (i.e., physicals, doctor’s notes, etc.) must be submitted using the Student Document Upload Ecollect Form available in the Parent Portal. If you already have an Ecollect account, you can sign in using your email address and the password you created. If you are creating an account for the first time, it will be set up when you submit your first document. To begin, click Sign In, enter your email and Parent Portal password, then click Register, agree to the terms, and click Register again. Once registered, you will be able to upload documents for all children linked to your account.
If you already have an account and are unable to sign in using your username and password, please select Forgot Password. Please note that passwords do not sync between the Parent Portal and the Student Document Upload Ecollect Form. We recommend using the same password for both accounts to simplify access.
We kindly ask that you do not email these documents. If you have any questions about uploading documents, please contact your school’s health office.
Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District Health Offices

Dear Ames Families,
As a reminder, students may wear costumes to school for Halloween on Friday, October 31st. However, please be mindful of the following guidelines:
Students may choose to dress “in costume” if the costume is suitable and appropriate in an educational atmosphere as determined by the staff. Costumes that represent violence or are distasteful/disrespectful are not welcome or acceptable.
Students are not allowed to carry props. Props include sticks, brooms, weapons, canes, or any item that may be considered by staff to be inappropriate, dangerous, or cumbersome.
Halloween costume masks/face paint/make-up (that cover the entire face) are not permitted; the identity of any student may not be disguised.
October 31st is a regular instructional day and students are expected to be able to perform all of their assigned tasks while in costume.
Any students whose costume is disrupting the educational process or deemed inappropriate by staff will be asked to remove the costume.
If you have any questions regarding costumes, please feel free to call the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Principal at 308-5885.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Tania M. Willman, Principal
Danielle E. Kennedy, Executive Assistant to the Principal

Dear Ames Families,
As a reminder, this week on Wednesday, October 29th, we will be holding an assembly program, Voices of 9/11: Stories of Service and Strength. During this day, our special assembly will be featuring guest speakers who will share their personal connections to 9/11. Please refer to the revised bell schedule for that school day: Voices of 9/11 Bell Schedule.
Also, the English Department continues to be in the process of facilitating the trip to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. The field trip to the museum connects what students have read in the book, Ground Zero by Alan Gratz, to real-life experiences, enhancing their understanding of history, empathy, and the significance of remembrance. Permission slips went home with students last week. If you have further questions regarding the trip, then please feel free to reach out to your child’s English teacher or contact the General Office at (516)308-5801.
Lastly, students and their families who purchased commemorative 9/11 t-shirts by placing an online order through New Wave Outfitters, received these items in their homerooms today. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to selected 9/11 charitable organizations.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Tania M. Willman, Principal
