AHS Homeroom Announcements 09/11/26: https://www.msd.k12.ny.us/ahsannouncements

September 10, 2026

Dear Ames Campus Families,

Tomorrow marks the 25th Anniversary of September 11th. As part of this Day of Remembrance, all students and staff are invited to dress in patriotic colors of red, white and blue. During the morning homeroom period, a Patriot Day announcement will be made followed by a moment of silence. This symbolic gesture will honor those Americans who gave so much on September 11, 2001, and the days, months, and years that followed. Furthermore, teachers in social studies classes will be recognizing 9/11 as part of their instruction. We will also be following up with you in the near future regarding the school’s continued and ongoing 9/11 initiatives.

Picture Day for student portraits will be held on Monday, September 14th (Day 2) and Tuesday, September 15th (Day 1). All students are invited to have their freshman class portraits taken in the Small Gym during their Physical Education classes. A make-up session has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th outside the cafeteria during lunch periods. Please note that students will be photographed against a green screen in order to offer a variety of background choices. For best results, it is recommended that students avoid wearing complicated patterns or shades of green.

As a reminder, please refer to the MSD flyer for details about the backpack collection through the With Purpose Foundation. The school supply donation bins are located in the front lobby for drop off of supplies.

Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration.

Sincerely,

Tania M. Willman, Principal
Danielle E. Kennedy, Executive Assistant to the Principal

Dear Ames Campus Students and Families,

Yesterday the halls at our Ames Campus were filled with students touring the building and walking their tentative schedules in preparation for the first day of classes next week on Wednesday, September 2nd.  How wonderful it was to see so many students excited about the upcoming school year while also connecting with some of our faculty and staff who were present to support the student orientation and walkthrough.  As a follow up, the presentation is also available for students who may have been unable to attend: Student Orientation & Walkthrough

We hope that you enjoy the remaining days of summer vacation, and we look forward to welcoming all students to their first official day of school!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Tania M. Willman, Principal

Dear Massapequa Community,

Today’s Air Quality Index is forecasted to be at an unhealthy level for the duration of today, July 16, 2026. As a result, we have required that all extended school year, summer recreation, and sports camp activities be moved indoors. All indoor field trips will remain as scheduled.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,
