Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are writing to bring your attention to a dangerous trend that has recently emerged on social media. This trend encourages users to microwave gel-filled toys, such as NeeDoh and similar products. These actions can cause the toys to rupture or explode, potentially resulting in serious burns and injuries.
As a community, it is important that we stay informed about emerging trends that may unknowingly put our children at risk. We believe it is essential to make you aware of this particularly hazardous behavior involving popular toys so that you can discuss it with your child or children, if appropriate. The safety of our students remains our top priority.
As always, we encourage parents and guardians to maintain ongoing conversations with their children about responsible social media use, the importance of sound judgment, and the potential risks and consequences associated with participating in viral challenges.

I am writing to share an important update regarding leadership at the Ames Campus.
Please be advised that due to Ms. Willman being on a temporary leave of absence, effective Friday, May 8, 2026, Ms. Danielle Kennedy assumed the role of Acting Principal at Massapequa High School Ames Campus for the foreseeable future until Ms. Willman returns. Many of you already know Ms. Kennedy and the dedication, compassion, and steady leadership she brings to our school community each day. In this role, she will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ames Campus while working closely with our students, staff, and families to ensure a positive, supportive, and successful learning environment for every child.

Dear Ames Families:
The fourth marking period has been bustling with activity. As of this week, many students are taking AP Exams, continuing to go on field trips, participating in clubs and athletics, and preparing diligently for the final exam session by attending extra-help and Regents Review Sessions (Ames Campus Regents Review Sessions - 2026). The mid-quarter on Thursday, May 21st is now less than two weeks away, and then students will soon be sitting for final and/or Regents exams. Our last day of classes is Friday, June 12th, but please note that some in-class finals will begin as early as Friday, June 5th.

After referring to the schedules noted above, please contact your child’s guidance counselor at (516) 308-5830 with any further questions or concerns.
We are also excited to share that ALS Ride for Life will be back at Ames again this year! On Tuesday, May 12th at approximately 12:00pm, we will step outside the building along the semicircle of the Baltimore Avenue entrance to greet, cheer and encourage all the riders and walkers. As in years prior, our student government organization will be presenting a donation.
In looking further ahead, please note that on Friday, May 22nd, a NYS Field Test will be administered during regular class time to students in Algebra I classes. As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation as we continue to work towards a strong and successful 9th grade year at the Ames Campus.
