More than 1,000 messages of joy adorn the back wall of a fifth grade classroom at Lockhart Elementary School. Taking inspiration from the Broadway play “Every Brilliant Thing,” Emily Bresnihan’s class set out to list all of the reasons they feel joy, with help from the school community.
Students, teachers, staff and parents contributed sticky notes to the wall. Anyone who stopped by the classroom was also asked to add a note, which totaled 1,011 – exceeding the class goal of 1,000.
Ms. Bresnihan said that when students need an emotional lift, they read the notes on the wall to remind themselves of all the “brilliant things” that make them happy.
