The Lockhart Library hosted a Videoconference with the Mariners’ Museum from Newport News, Virginia last week. 2nd graders participated in the program called “Sailing Into Thanksgiving" during their Library classes. Students learned about the Pilgrims and their life in America, what inspired them to celebrate the first Thanksgiving, and how the Wampanoag people were essential to their survival. Students had an opportunity to make a story bracelet inspired by Wampanoag wampum belts, and will be able to tell others about the Thanksgiving story.
