ELE-ELE Halloween Activities

With Halloween as the backdrop, lessons on the human body, plant life cycles and kindness have had a fun twist in fourth grade classrooms at East Lake Elementary School.

In Lauren Ahrens’ class, students worked on their spooky skeletons. Each youngster had to pick an activity for his or her skeleton, from playing a sport to making food to picking flowers, and identify how the body would work to accomplish that task.

Giana Ahern’s fourth graders welcomed kindergartners from Paige LaBosco’s class for the first tech buddies activity of the school year. Students were paired up at Chromebooks to explore pumpkin life cycles. Together, they clicked, dragged and typed in Google Slides as they explored the journey from seed to giant gourd.

Allison Abbate’s students read “We’re All Pumpkins in the Same Patch,” a book about kindness that connects to the RULER initiative. At one station, they dropped rocks into a tub of water and watched the ripples, a symbol for the ripple effect that one act of kindness can create. Then, using sentence starters provided by Ms. Abbate, they wrote on paper pumpkins ways they can show kindness to others.
