Fifth graders from Mrs. Quinn, Mrs. Dunston, Ms. Doherty, and Mrs. Falcon’s classes at East Lake Elementary recently had an exciting opportunity to experience a day in the life of working professionals during their visit to Commerce Plaza.
Throughout the day, students stepped outside the traditional classroom setting and into a real-world environment where they could explore different careers and workplace expectations. From engaging in hands-on activities to observing professionals in action, the trip offered valuable insight into what it means to be part of the workforce.
Students practiced important life skills such as communication, teamwork, and responsibility while completing tasks that mirrored real job roles. Whether collaborating with peers, problem-solving in small groups, or learning how businesses operate, each student was able to gain a deeper understanding of how their classroom learning connects to the real world.
In addition to building practical skills, the experience inspired many students to begin thinking about their future goals and interests. The visit to Commerce Plaza not only made learning meaningful and interactive, but also encouraged curiosity, confidence, and a sense of possibility.
It was a memorable and enriching day for East Lake’s fifth graders—one that will surely leave a lasting impression as they continue their educational journey. “Best day ever,” according to our fifth graders.
