Fourth graders at East Lake Elementary School have been involved in some spooky projects lately and are coming away with greater knowledge in literacy, math and science.
In Giana Aherns’s class, students rotated through Halloween-themed math stations that focused on multiplication skills. In digital multiplication trick or treat through Google Drive, they navigated through haunted houses to answer questions or word problems. In the Ghost in a Bag game, students picked multiplication facts from a bag and got to keep the stick if they answered correctly.
A skeleton project engaged fourth graders in Lauren Ahrens’ class as part of a science unit on the human body. Students had to come with an activity for their skeleton, like playing a sport or dancing, then write about how the body works to perform the necessary actions.
