September was nothing short of a whirlwind adventure for the students of East Lake, as they launched into the school year with energy, creativity, and heart. From the very first day, the halls buzzed with excitement and curiosity, setting the tone for a month filled with meaningful learning and joyful experiences.
The students took time to honor the heroes of 9/11, participating in thoughtful activities that highlighted courage, unity, and remembrance. Shortly after, they celebrated International DOT Day, embracing creativity and self-expression through vibrant art and storytelling inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.
In the spirit of wellness and community, East Lake joined the nationwide movement for National Walk to School Day, encouraging students to enjoy the outdoors and build healthy habits. The learning continued with engaging lessons about Johnny Appleseed, where students explored history, nature, and kindness through interactive storytelling and hands-on activities.
Artistic talents flourished with Gelli Printing, a fun and tactile art experience that allowed students to experiment with textures and colors, producing beautiful, one-of-a-kind prints. Their hard work and positive behavior were rewarded with a cozy Pajama Day, a well-earned treat that brought smiles and a sense of celebration to the classroom.
From honoring history to embracing creativity and wellness, East Lake students truly soared to new heights this September. With such a strong start, the rest of the school year promises to be just as inspiring!
