East Lake's fifth graders visited the Newsday headquarters in Melville for an introduction to journalism. They transformed into cub reporters for the day, participating in a mock press conference on a "breaking news" assignment, collaborated to create a social media report and toured the newsroom where they met Newsday editors and reporters. They even got to visit the broadcast control room for a behind the scenes look at how the newscast is produced and used the green screen photobooth with props and images related to the news story they covered!
