Thousands of pieces of artwork adorned the gymnasium of Berner Middle School for the annual art show on June 3. The evening showcase featured 2D and 3D pieces created by students in grades 6-8 since September.
Throughout the day, art teachers and student volunteers from the National Junior Art Honor Society hung up paintings and drawings, and placed sculptures on tables. At night, artists and their families were invited to come in and walk around.
Some of the pieces included pencil-drawn portraits of famous people by eighth graders, boo-face paintings emulating the style of Pablo Picasso by Foundations of Art students in grades 7-8, and sixth grade gargoyle sculptures made with model magic. Everyone who took an art class this year had at least one piece showcased.
Students created the work under the direction of art teachers Bethany Bracconier, Alison Clemente, Jason Coppola, Heather Cullinan and Cristin O’Neill.
