A group of talented young vocalists made their way around the Massapequa School District on Dec. 18 to spread holiday cheer through song. More than 30 members of Vocal Points, an ensemble from Berner Middle School, visited several elementary schools throughout the day.
Vocal Points is an audition-only ensemble of seventh and eighth graders, led by music teacher Andrea Gropf. The select group of singers meets once a week after school.
During their holiday tour, students visited Birch Lane, Fairfield, Lockhart and Unqua elementary schools. They sang six Christmas, Hanukkah and winter songs, such as “It’s the Holiday Season,” “Hanukkah Dance” and “Silent Night.”
After performing for elementary students, the middle school vocalists then sat among them for a holiday singalong.
