Dear MHS Students and Families,

This afternoon, Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025 at approx. 2:20pm all MHS- Main Campus students and staff will receive a text message from the building. The text message will read, “MHS notification- Cell Phone Number Test”.

If a student receives this text, they do not have to do anything further. If a student does not receive this text message to the phone they carry with them while in the building, please fill out the following form.

After filling out the form, students will get called down to the GO during their lunch period. They will be asked to provide a cell phone number that will then be corrected in the system.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This is a reminder that all confidential health documents (i.e., physicals, doctor’s notes, etc.) must be submitted using the Student Document Upload Ecollect Form available in the Parent Portal. If you already have an Ecollect account, you can sign in using your email address and the password you created. If you are creating an account for the first time, it will be set up when you submit your first document. To begin, click Sign In, enter your email and Parent Portal password, then click Register, agree to the terms, and click Register again. Once registered, you will be able to upload documents for all children linked to your account.

If you already have an account and are unable to sign in using your username and password, please select Forgot Password. Please note that passwords do not sync between the Parent Portal and the Student Document Upload Ecollect Form. We recommend using the same password for both accounts to simplify access.

We kindly ask that you do not email these documents. If you have any questions about uploading documents, please contact your school’s health office.

Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District Health Offices

Fire Alarm- MHS Main Campus

At approximately 8:45 am the fire alarm sounded unexpectedly at MHS and all students were safely evacuated. Students were outside with staff and admin for approximately 10 minutes. MHS was in communication with the Massapequa Fire Department and the building has been cleared at this time. All students and staff were safely returned the building.

Dear Massapequa Families,

Earlier today, the District was advised of Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) activity in the area of Bay Drive and Firethorne Court. As a precaution, NCPD directed us to initiate a Secure Lockout at both Massapequa High School and Birch Lane Elementary School. This procedure restricts entry and exit to the buildings while normal instructional activities continue.

At MHS, students who were off campus for lunch were sent email and text notifications about the lockout. While the emails were successfully delivered, we identified and quickly resolved a technical issue that impacted text messages.

During the 90-minute lockout, students continued moving between classes. As the situation stabilized, the high school shifted to a modified lockout, allowing returning students to re-enter the building. District staff, including security and administrators, were deployed to local eateries to safely escort students back to campus.

High school students who missed lunch were provided meals in the cafeteria, with additional seating available in the auditorium. The NCPD authorized us to lift the lockout and issue an “all clear” at 12:20 p.m.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritized the safety of our students and staff.

Sincerely,
William Brennan, Ed.D.

Dear MHS Students and Parents/Guardians,

We experienced an issue with students receiving text messages due to a communication platform issue. The issue has been resolved, and students are once again receiving text messages as expected. We are working closely with the company to monitor the system and ensure that this does not happen again in the future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District

Secure Lockout Procedure in Effect

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This morning, Massapequa High School initiated a secure lockout procedure in response to a situation outside of the building in the surrounding community. Please know that all students and staff are safe, and the building remains secure. All activities are continuing as normal inside the building. All students outside of the building at lunch have been notified through text and are asked to stay in their current locations until further notice.

We will notify you as soon as the secure lockout is lifted and normal operations resume. In the meantime, we ask that you do not come to the school as this may interfere with safety procedures.
