Concert season is in full swing in Massapequa and young musicians are excited to share the progress they have made in the last year.
Fairfield Elementary School’s first through fourth graders gathered in the gymnasium for a morning musical showcase on May 20. The program began with the entire third grade stepping up onto the risers and playing songs on the recorder, an instrument they began learning just months ago. After their performance wrapped up, they joined the audience as fourth graders stepped into the spotlight.
The fourth grade orchestra played a pair of songs before the concert switched gears to vocals and an energetic performance from the chorus. Band students closed out the show, which was a warmup for Fairfield’s beginner concert that night at the high school.
The orchestra was led by Debbie Burkart, with the band conducted by Scott Stout and Samantha McEvoy leading the chorus and recorder ensemble.
