This April, the hallways of Fairfield are buzzing with more than just the usual springtime energy. To honor Autism Acceptance Month, the school’s Best Buddies Club has launched a heartwarming initiative aimed at fostering inclusion and understanding among the school's youngest learners. Throughout the month, student members of Best Buddies are visiting kindergarten, first, and second-grade classrooms to share a powerful message of empathy through literature. Their book of choice? The vibrant and moving story, "Just Ask!"
Written by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, "Just Ask!" is more than just a picture book. It encourages our youngest learners to navigate differences, from autism to physical disabilities, with curiosity rather than hesitation. The book’s profound lesson is simple: if you’re curious about why someone does things differently, don’t stare, just ask. It’s a beautiful celebration of being different, being brave, and being yourself.
