Dear Parents/Guardians, We are happy to announce that we will be holding our traditional Flag Day ceremony at Birch Lane tomorrow morning. As in years past, the Massapequa Elks will be joining us for this moving and patriotic celebration . Our celebration will be held for students in grades 3 through 5 and take place outside (weather permitting) in front of our main entrance. The program will include a presentation of the history of the American Flag from members of our student government and the Elks along with the playing of patriotic music performed by our advanced band, orchestra, and chorus. The celebration will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. and parents/guardians are welcome to join us. In the event of inclement weather, we will hold a smaller ceremony inside for students only. Unfortunately, if the ceremony needs to be moved inside, parents/guardians will not be able to join us. We hope to see you tomorrow morning! Best Regards, Stephen Aspetti and Joyce Larkin

Good Morning Birch Lane Families, We apologize for the late notice, but if possible, we are requesting for students to avoid riding bikes to school today. Most of our field is being utilized for Field Day activities and there won't be much room to park bikes on our grounds. Of course, if this is their only option today, we will find a place for their bikes. Best Regards, Stephen Aspetti and Joyce Larkin

Good Morning Birch Lane Families, We hope this message finds you all enjoying this beautiful weather! We are writing to inform you of an important safety procedure regarding the use of electric bicycles (e-bikes) and electric scooters (e-scooters) on school property. To ensure the safety of all students and staff, e-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on school grounds at any time. We have all observed an increase in the use of these vehicles, and while we understand their convenience, they pose significant safety risks in a busy school environment. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Best Regards, Stephen Aspetti and Joyce Larkin

Dear Grade 4 Parents/Guardians, All Grade 4 students will be exchanging their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook in the coming weeks. Please note the following: If applicable, please remove any personal protective cases from the Chromebook. Students need to bring their current fully charged Chromebook and charger to school on the date indicated by their classroom teacher. Students will keep their current Chromebook bag. The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.) The new Chromebooks may have limited/no battery charge. Teachers have been informed and will plan accordingly. Thank you, The Massapequa School District
