Eight Massapequa High School students have been recognized for their vocal and instrumental talents as All-State musicians.
Chorus students Sophia Rose Alfieri, Nicholas Bernstein, Daniel Etter, Abigail Matheis, Rhyan O’Leary, James Ruiz and Isabella Traugott have been selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association’s 2026 All-State Winter Conference, which takes place from Dec. 3-6 in Rochester. Livia Friedrich is an alternate in orchestra.
“We are immensely proud that several of our talented music students have been selected for the NYSSMA All-State conference,” said Director of Fine and Performing Arts Katie LoRusso. “Earning a spot in an All-State ensemble represents the highest honor a New York State high school musician can achieve.”
Each student selected for the All-State conference earned a perfect score of 100 on their NYSSMA Level VI solo evaluations. The 90th annual winter conference will include musical showcases and workshops for student musicians. They will also practice with their respective ensembles, comprised of students from across the state, before performing in a concert on one of the final two days.
