MHS Marine Science Club

On Saturday, December 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Marine Science Club from Massapequa High School organized a successful beach cleanup at Tobay Beach. Students gathered to collect litter and recyclables along the shoreline and nearby dunes. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and other supplies provided by the club, participants made a significant impact.

This initiative allowed students to apply classroom knowledge about marine ecosystems and the effects of human activity, fostering stewardship, teamwork, and real-world conservation skills. Participants also earned valuable volunteer hours for school and scholarship requirements, gaining leadership and collaboration experience that enhances their college and resume applications.

Photos from the event captured the students working diligently on the sand, sorting recyclables, and celebrating their collective efforts. These images highlight the dedication and positive impact of MHS student volunteers. The club advisor, Mr. Gibbons, a Biology teacher at MHS, guided the students throughout the project, ensuring a memorable and educational experience.
