Elementary students tour ames campus door decorating annual event

The festive doors at the Massapequa High School Ames Campus are making spirits bright for students and staff leading up to the holiday break and also bringing some cheer to their neighbors. On Dec. 16, first graders from Lockhart Elementary School made the short walk to their future school for tours of the decked out halls.

Each class got a personal tour led by teachers and students from the Career and Community Connections program, along with Santa Claus. Classroom and office doors throughout the school were decorated the week prior. Many teachers enlisted the help of their ninth graders to create the festive decorations, which gave holiday spins to academic subjects, paid tribute to notable holiday movies or featured elaborate winter scenes.

At the end of the tour, first graders were presented with snowman craft kits by the CCC students. The holiday tours at Ames for Lockhart students has become a highly-anticipated annual tradition.
