ames students showing support for those battling breast cancer

To show their support for people battling breast cancer, ninth graders at the Massapequa High School Ames Campus created public service announcements during their health education classes. The handmade posters included four facts about breast cancer as well as colorful images such as pink ribbons.

Health Education Chairperson Denise Baldinger said that the assignment coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Students did research on the Maurer Foundation for Breast Health Education and American Cancer Society websites.

The posters are being hung throughout the hallways in advance of a November visit from representatives from the Maurer Foundation. They will lead presentations in health classes about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
