To Our Massapequa Family, As summer approaches, I’m filled with deep gratitude for all we’ve shared this year. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of joining many of you—cheering at championship games, celebrating at concerts and field days, honoring milestones at moving-up ceremonies, and rejoicing at graduations. Each of these moments has been a powerful reminder that Massapequa is more than a district—it’s a family. Please click to read my full message to the Massapequa community.

Dear McKenna Community,
We are thrilled to share an exciting update about our district-wide Playground Construction Project!
Playgrounds are more than just equipment and surfaces – they are places where friendships are formed, and imaginations come alive. Through this project, we will replace our "Big Toy" and ensure all McKenna students have joyful experiences in a safe and modern play environment for many years to come! We are also pleased to share that one of our top priorities has been enhancing safety features, including improved flooring and fall protection. All new playgrounds will also be ADA-compliant, ensuring that students of all abilities can enjoy and participate in these play spaces.
Construction is set to begin Monday, June 30th with the demolition of the existing playground to make way for the new installation. Each site is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete. We understand that construction can be an inconvenience, especially as warmer weather approaches, but we are confident the results will be worth the wait!
We appreciate your patience and support as we create vibrant, safe, and engaging play spaces for our school!
Regards,
McKenna Administration

Dear MSD Parents/Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding how we communicate with you about unverified student absences. In our ongoing efforts to improve communication and ensure easy access to notifications, we are transitioning from phone message alerts to text messages and emails for unverified absences.
What This Means for You:
• If your child is marked absent and the absence has not been verified, you will receive a text message and email instead of a phone call.
• This new system will allow for quicker, more convenient communication and help ensure that you are promptly informed.
As a reminder, all parents are asked to complete the Student Absence Notification Form located on the Parent Portal to inform the school of a verified absence. Thank you for your continued support with our communications.
Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District

Dear Grade 4 Parents/Guardians,
All Grade 4 students will be exchanging their currently assigned Chromebook for a new Chromebook in the coming weeks.
Please note the following: If applicable, please remove any personal protective cases from the Chromebook. Students need to bring their current fully charged Chromebook and charger to school on the date indicated by their classroom teacher. Students will keep their current Chromebook bag. The new Chromebook will have a district-issued protective cover that must remain attached at all times. (This is in addition to their Chromebook bag that must be used when the Chromebook is not in-use.) The new Chromebooks may have limited/no battery charge. Teachers have been informed and will plan accordingly.
Thank you, The Massapequa School District
