After reading “Chasing Augustus” by Kimberly Newton Fusco, students in Mrs. Lewin’s 4th grade class were given the opportunity to discuss the book with the author via a virtual meeting. Each student had the opportunity to ask the author a question. There was also a discussion about the development of characters and plot. Ms. Fusco explained that her inspiration for the book was a friend she had when she was younger. The meeting ended with the author impressing on the students her love of reading and writing, and the role it has played in her life.
