Message from our Superintendent of Schools:

To our Massapequa Family,

They say experience matters — and once again, our Chief Meteorologist Mr. Donohue proved that to be true. His forecast was right on target, giving us clarity and confidence as this storm moved in. Because of the continued conditions, all Massapequa schools will be closed on Tuesday, February 24 for a traditional snow day.

While snow days bring excitement, I’d like to take a moment to recognize something important. Behind every snow day is a group of superheroes who rarely get one themselves.

Our maintenance and grounds crews and custodial staff work tirelessly — through the night and the very early hours of the morning enduring the storm — clearing parking lots, shoveling walkways, salting entrances, and preparing our buildings so they are safe and ready when we return.

On a personal note, during February break, I saw firsthand that they were already preparing for this storm days in advance — breaking down and removing old snow mounds to make room for what was ahead. That kind of foresight, pride, and work ethic speaks volumes about the people who care for our schools.

Their dedication and quiet commitment truly represent the very best of Massapequa — service, teamwork, and heart.
