Fire Prevention Assembly

Birch Lane kindergarten, first, and second-grade students had an exciting opportunity to learn about fire safety from Massapequa Fire Department members. They discovered the crucial role that smoke detectors play in alerting families during a fire. The students engaged in discussions about creating escape plans that include a designated meeting place outside, ensuring everyone knows where to go in case of an emergency. Some students demonstrated the "stop, drop, and roll" technique, which is vital if clothing catches fire. To make the assembly even more memorable, two teachers dressed in firefighter gear to show how firefighters look when helping during fire emergencies. A big thank you to the Massapequa Fire Department for helping our students understand the importance of fire safety.
