Learning From Nature

Biomimicry is an exciting concept that teaches us how to solve problems by looking at nature. In a recent STEAM class, first graders learned about this idea by studying the flying squirrel, a creature famous for gliding gracefully from tree to tree. By observing how the flying squirrel moves, the students got inspired to create their own paper airplanes that copied its flying patterns. This fun project not only allowed them to be creative, but also showed them how nature can help us find new and clever solutions to everyday challenges.
