Fifth graders at Birch Lane Elementary School are preparing for their transition to middle school in the fall, and recently took part in videoconferences with Berner students and staff.
During their library periods, the fifth graders were able to ask about a variety of topics such as changing classes, joining clubs and sports, how to use their lockers and what kind of food is served for lunch. On the other end, Berner Middle School Jason Esposito, library media specialists Laurie Martucci-Walsh and Julie Rogers, and student ambassadors offered advice and guidance. They noted the strong support system that is in place for middle school students.
