Narratives Have a Personal Touch at Unqua

Personal Narratives

First graders in Alana Durkin's class at Unqua Elementary School recently completed their personal narrative stories in writer's workshop. Each child wrote about a special person in his or her life.

Students followed the writing process by generating story ideas, completing a first draft, editing, revising and publishing. They learned how to use lots of details in their stories.

With support from technology learning coach Marissa Flanagan, students published digital versions of their narratives with Book Creator. They recorded themselves reading their stories, then got to share with each other at a publishing party.
