Physical education classes had a holiday twist in December at East Lake Elementary School. Teachers Lauren Cinelli and Steve Donovan set up eight stations for students to enjoy, each with a seasonal theme.
The center of the gym was open for ice skating, in which students stood on upside-down carpet squares to move around the circular rink. At Ring in the New Year, students tried to throw rings over cones. Other centers included Candy Cane Bowling, Dreidel Dribbling and Jingle Bell Basketball.
Ms. Cinelli and Mr. Donovan explained that each station had a fitness component and a skill. In Reindeer Stomp, children stepped on an angled board to launch a fuzzy ball. By trying to catch the ball, they worked on their hand-eye coordination.
