Lockhart Students Share Their Special Moments

Personal Narratives

Whether it was taking a trip, playing sports or enjoying a recreational activity, third graders at Lockhart Elementary School were eager to share these happy memories. Students completed their personal narrative projects which included both writing and technology components.

For a Writer’s Workshop activity, students tapped into their own experiences for inspiration. In the nonfiction pieces, they had to describe the setting and include details and dialogue. The topics were far ranging including a trip to Block Island, a soccer tournament and a family bike ride through the Massapequa Preserve.

Following an extensive writing process, students then made videos. They used WeVideo to record themselves reading their stories aloud, and could even add music and fun backgrounds. Students also made promotional posters, with a picture of each child holding up his or her published story and a QR code that linked the video.
