Writing About Winter’s Wonders at McKenna

Snowman writing

On top was a picture of a happy snowman and underneath was words about winter activities that bring happiness to students at McKenna Elementary School.

Fifth graders in Mary Scheffler’s class welcomed winter by writing four-paragraph essays about their favorite things to do during the chillier months. Popular activities among her students include ice skating, sledding and snowball fights. And, of course, they love to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate.

Ms. Scheffler explained that students learned about the importance of including descriptive words and phrases to liven up their writing.
