Fairfield Students Give Thanks Through Song and Scrawl

Children at Fairfield Elementary School have a lot to be thankful for this year, and they are showing it.

Kindergartners prepared a Thanksgiving musical presentation, with songs about gratitude and, of course, turkeys. Parents were invited to the in-person performance on Nov. 18, and guests could also view it online.

With the help of fifth grade buddies, kindergartners made thankful turkey crafts. Children in Tiana Parrella’s class first reflected on everything they are grateful for this year. Then, their older friends from Christine Gooden’s class wrote those down on pieces of construction paper, which became the feathers of the turkey. After adding eyes and a beak, kindergartners had a Thanksgiving project to take home and share with their families.

In Danielle McCaffery’s class, third graders made “I Am Thankful” booklets. In these keepsake books of personal gratitude, students wrote about the people, places, food and hobbies they are thankful for.
