Birch Lane Students are Linked by Uniqueness

To mark Autism Awareness Month in April, students at Birch Lane Elementary School celebrated all of the attributes that make them unique and special.

Assistant Principal Joyce Larkin said that there were lessons during library classes in which students learned to celebrate each other’s differences and to embrace their own unique qualities. As a visual reminder of this important lesson, all children contributed to rainbow chains, which were hung throughout the hallways. Each student added a link, writing one reason why he or she is unique.
