To mark Red Ribbon Week, a national drug prevention campaign, students and staff at McKenna Elementary School participated in spirit days from Oct. 23-27 to show that they stand together for good health.

The week began with students wearing red, signing pledges and coloring paper ribbons for display around the school. Later in the week, they “teamed up against drugs” by wearing sports jerseys and committed to being a drug-free community by donning the Massapequa colors of blue and gold.

“Students learned the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and how making good choices will make them happier and healthier,” Assistant Principal Mary Anne Ferraro said.
